At the beginning of November, 29 skippers lined up for the start of the famous Vendée Globe yacht race. It was the chance to invite foreign investors and to put the spotlight on the Pays de la Loire region and its values.

Every four years during November, the Pays de la Loire follows the adventures of the Vendée Globe that departs from and arrives at Les Sables d’Olonne*. This round-the-world, single-handed yacht race, sailed non-stop and without assistance has become legendary and is now at its eighth edition.

This year, the Agence régionale invited foreign investors looking to create companies in the Pays de la Loire. The eve of the departure, on 5 November, they were able to meet regional representatives to exchange on their projects and the region’s strengths, and also to discover the Vendée Globe Village, meet the skippers and see their yachts. In the evening, they took part in a networking cocktail during the International Evening organised within the Enterprise Village, that brings together international companies from the region.

From sport to enterprise, common values

On 6 November, in brilliant sunshine, the foreign investors saw the start of the race from the regional launch. This was the highlight of a weekend that will leave them with positive memories of Vendée and the Pays de la Loire. They will particularly remember the strong values: commitment, courage, audacity, solidarity, overcoming limits, team spirit – essential qualities both for meeting sporting challenges and for business creation.
