The Pays de la Loire is once again the host region for the Young Enterprise Initiative (YEI) program. This program, to host young international scientific companies in Europe, has already borne its fruit in Pays de la Loire.
YEi Start in France was created in 2005 as an accelerator for young foreign scientific companies wishing to develop their activity in France and in Europe. It is run by the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs, in partnership with Business France, Paris & Co, the RETIS Innovation Network and Paris Région Entreprises. The Pays de la Loire has participated in recent editions, supporting at least one company per year: Xenothera in 2015 and FlameOFF in 2016. This year, the Region has once again bid to host companies, targeting the technical logistics, Virtual Reality, Health and Naval sectors.
FlameOFF: an enlightening success story
The FlameOFF course, hosted in 2016, is indicative of the potentially very strong impact of this approach on the host territory. This American company, FlameOFF Coatings, develops fire protection technologies, including so-called intumescent, fire-resistant and retardant paints, at a reasonable cost. These eco-friendly products can be applied to most building materials. During the visit of company representatives to the Pays de la Loire, FlameOFF was able to build promising business relationships, to their benefit. At the same time, the company was able to enter into two OEM partnerships and to find a first subcontractor in the region. Four of the eight companies FlameOFF met during its immersion week, in December 2016, committed to R & D projects.
