The PiveteauBois company is engaged in the development of the biggest cross-laminated timber production capacity in France. This major investment echoes the dynamism of West France’s wood-processing industry. Its players are preparing the next Carrefour International du Bois de Nantes fair trade.
As a specialist of cross-laminated timber (CLT), the PiveteauBois company, established in the city of Sainte-Florence (Vendée department), has invested 15 million Euros in the construction of a production facility for this highly engineered product. This 10,000-m2 facility, from 2018 onwards, will have an annual production capacity of about 50,000 m3. It will be fully automated and will produce 3x16m CLT plates, from wood split finger-jointing to the application of finishes and the complete adhesive bonding and machining of panels. PiveteauBois, a family-owned company with 400 employees in Sainte-Florence and 400 more in its two factories of the Corrèze department and Poland, achieved a turnover of €170M in 2016.
The Pays de la Loire department: An expert of wood processing
As a major industrialist of the Pays de la Loire department’s wood industry, PiveteauBois is a very representative player. Pays de la Loire, despite its low forest cover, is the 3rd employer, among French departments, in the wood industry. It employs more than 30,000 people, in this industry, in over 7,000 facilities. In Pays de la Loire, the bulk of business and added value of wood industry derives from processing activities: carpentry, furniture and construction.
Carrefour International du Bois: A key event
The 15th “Carrefour International du Bois” will take place in Nantes in the summer of 2018. 550 exhibitors are expected on May 30-31 and June 1, as well as over 10,000 visitors, like in the last 2016 edition, from over 80 countries.
Organised by Atlanbois and Grand Port Maritime de Nantes Saint-Nazaire, Carrefour International du Bois de Nantes is a flagship event of the wood industry, with international outreach. A leading trade fair in Europe, it is entirely devoted to timber business. Every two years, it provides a comprehensive overview of wood-processing related businesses: sawn wood, panels, parquets, specialty trades, building solutions… A meeting venue for businesses and a marketing place, the “Carrefour” show is recognised as a valuable barometer of the industry.
