The French marine renewable energy market is booming. The Pays de la Loire has established the respect of this new industrial sector’s leaders, and its potential in attracting foreign companies. A good starting point from which to launch international initiatives.
At the last EWEA business salon, several Pays de la Loire partners* organized a business event for professionals in the sector. Its new format, which alternated presentations and networking sessions, was a rousing success among some 90 participants, and included representatives of all the major French contractors, with about 30% of attendees from abroad.
The objectives were to promote the strengths of the region, and the skill-base of the region’s companies with a view to both attracting foreign direct investments, and enriching the relationships with international MRE networks and clusters. Mission accomplished, with four major networks represented at the meetings – UK Trade & Investment, Scottish Development International, Norway’s INTPOW and Spain’s Clúster de Energía as well as many European companies: CWIND, EGS International Ltd and Offshore Design Engineering from the UK, Automasjon & Data from Norway, The Switch from Finland, ERREKA Fastening Solutions from Spain, StormGeo from Germany…
