With a record 14% growth in traffic since the beginning of the year, Nantes Atlantique Airport passed the 5-million passenger milestone since November.
The Nantes airport platform has announced that it went over the 5-million passenger milestone in November 2017. This makes it the 7th biggest French regional airport. According to the Vinci group, the concession holder, the airport saw a record growth in passenger traffic over the first 10 months of 2017; 14% compared to the same period of 2016.
International traffic grew by 20%, representing 55% of activity, and national traffic grew by 8%. The year’s events included: 17 route openings and the arrival of 3 new scheduled airlines (British Airways for London Heathrow, Lufthansa for Munich, Chalair Aviation for Bordeaux, Pau and Caen).
25 scheduled airlines
In total, Nantes airport hosts 25 scheduled airlines: 17 traditional companies (+ 23% of traffic in 2017) and 8 low-cost companies (+ 8%). Five of these are there permanently: Hop! Air France, Ryanair, Transavia, easyJet and Volotea. 2,000 employees work at Nantes Atlantique Airport, all companies combined.
As the first European airport certified ISO 9001 in 1997, Nantes Atlantique was awarded the ERA Award in 2011 for the best European airport by regional airlines, particularly citing its quality of passenger services and operational efficiency innovation policy.
