The Pays de la Loire Regional Development Agency organized a high-level meeting for marine renewable energy professionals on May 19. This international conference was a great success, welcoming 83 participants from ten different countries.
360° immersion. From basic research to industrial applications, the Pays de la Loire region plays host to the whole value chain in the marine renewable energies. The VIP event demonstrated the concrete progress that has been made in the sector to its audience.
From work done by researchers at the École Centrale de Nantes and the Jules Verne Institute of Research and Technology, to the experience of the big industrial players in the region such as Alstom, STX, DCNS and Rollix, by way of a presentation of the region’s innovative SMEs and the Neopolia marine renewables cluster, the event presented a panoramic view of the region’s features for the development of the sector.

The testimony from business, notably from Alstom and STX, highlighted the attractiveness of the Pays de la Loire region for the marine renewables sector, and sent a strong message to the international audience, of whom more than half had come from other countries, including the UK, China, Norway, Germany, Spain…
The networking exchanges continued over cocktails, which enabled initial contacts to be made which were to prove useful at the subsequent Thetis EMR meeting, also held in Nantes.
