L’Agence Régionale des Pays de la Loire, a member of the Business France network, hosted an international delegation on 24 and 25 March. There were representatives from seven offices: Business France New York, Chicago, Shanghai, Pekin, Milan, the Western France Interregional Dept. and Paris. The visit’s itinerary showcased the strengths and opportunities of three regional cities.
The innovation tour in the Pays de la Loire kicked off in Laval Virtual, the international trade show dedicated to the virtual and augmented reality sector. Following the presentations tabled at the event that had begun the day before, on IRT B-Com and a general overview of the region’s assets and advantages, Business France representatives were taken on a guided tour of the show.
Then they moved on to Angers to visit the Cité de l’objet connecté and the Campus du Végétal that houses the international competitiveness cluster Vegepolys, the Sival trade show, the Maison des Chercheurs (8,000 m² and 250 researchers) and the experimental greenhouses at the Research Institute of Horticulture and Seeds.
On Friday 25, the delegation headed to Nantes for a presentation of the regional composites ecosystem by Technocampus Composites, the EMC2 centre and the Jules Verne TRI before going on to discover the aeronautics sector and its challenges at the Airbus plant. The visit continued with a behind-the-scenes look at the manufacturing of mechanical giant’s at Machines de l’île, and then wrapped up with an introduction to the healthcare stream at Atlanpole, a regional business incubator in the Pays de la Loire.
The members of the international delegation were delighted to find out about the region’s potential in its sectors of excellence.
