France’s second biggest agricultural region, the Pays de la Loire, already exports significant amounts of beef to other European countries and Asia. But the Region is planning to boost sales by developing a closer relationship with the new business platform France Viande Export. The goal: to win in new markets, particularly in China.
Although recognized for its excellence, the French meat production sector could improve international sales. In October, a new business platform, France Viande Export, was established to strengthen the French bid in other countries.
Local producers already export beef to Italy, Germany and Greece, and the Pays de la Loire Regional Council and the Nantes-Saint Nazaire Port recently met with the business platform to strengthen ties, and improve coordination of the burgeoning export effort.
The Regional Council has numerous commercial relationships with China, whose markets offer considerable potential. In the meat sector, several initiatives have been launched to capitalize on this strength, notably in the reception and sending of trade delegations.
A bi-national communication is beeing established by Interbev, the meat producer’s trade body in the Pays de la Loire, and the Region’s Innovation Agency. Local initiatives in synergy with France Viande Export are anticipated, and a first common goal was set: welcoming a Chinese delegation to the Salon de l’agriculture in 2016.
