Promote the start-ups’ expertise and accelerate the companies’ digital change

Nantes, France December 8th 2016 — A delegation from the Pays de la Loire region (Western France) will be present at the Las Vegas CES from January 5th to 8th 2017, in order to promote the region’s digital attractiveness and strengthen its companies’ visibility.  Proud of its 5 « French Tech » regional labels in Laval, Angers, Le Mans, la Vendée and Nantes – one of the 13 national « French Tech Metropoles » – the Pays de la Loire Region will fully play its « aircraft carrier » role, by federating 50 Pays de la Loire structures at the CES.

With 3 500 exhibitors, 20 000 new products and 175 000 expected visitors, the CES is the inescapable international meeting where the digital key trends emerge, and where the true strategic stakes that will rule tomorrow’s society are determined. All the actors involved in the global digital economy are gathering there, creating unique collaboration opportunities.

Bruno RETAILLEAU, Pays de la Loire Region’s President, comments: “We are proud that our region’s attractiveness is represented at the CES, the global reference regarding digital innovations. The Pays de la Loire are literally “breathing French Tech”: we are on the French Regions’ top 3 in numbers of digital-related jobs! The goal of this mission is that our regional medium-sized and large traditional companies, benefit from the expertise and dynamism of our local start-ups, which are already recognized by leading international experts in this domain. “

Strong Know-How and Life Quality are the two pillars of Pays de la Loire’s (the “French West Coast”) attractiveness

Digitalization is one of the success levers of the region’s investor-privileged-sectors: Health & Therapies of tomorrow, Shipbuilding and Pleasure Boat industry, Advanced manufacturing technologies, Marine Renewable Energy (MRE), Professional electronics & digital technology, Agri-food industry, Creative and Cultural Industries.

Gary Shapiro’s – President of the Consumer Technology Association and true “Digital Pope”- successive visits in 2015 and 2016 at Angers’ Cité de l’Objet Connecté prove it.  Back in October, he said to be “impressed by the regional passion for new technologies and innovation”.

The Pays de la Loire region delegation will be hosted on the “French Village” where the skills and iconic regional successes will be shown. Among them:

  • SensorWake ( the first olfactory alarm-clock, founded by a young man from Nantes, Guillaume ROLLAND, finalist of the 2016 Google Science Fair and awarded at the 2017 CES,
  • 10-Vins ( founded by Thibault JARROUSSE, Jérôme PASQUET and Luis DA SILVA, awarded at the 2016 CES and at the French Tech 17, or
  • My Jomo (, the first live-customizable-connected badge, which the Pays de la Loire delegation will wear during the CES 2017.

This business trip will be driven by the Pays de la Loire region and International Chamber of Commerce and Industry, as part of a collective initiative involving digital actors, such as ADN Ouest, Images & Networks clusters, along with the 5 regional “French Tech” labels. All in all, 45 structures will compose the delegation: 34 companies including 14 exhibitors, 11 organizations such as clusters, French Tech or agglomerations.
